At the core of Rainbo Initiative’s work is a deep commitment to using rigorous, evidence-based research to drive meaningful policy change and create lasting, systemic impact in Sierra Leone. We firmly believe that sound data and comprehensive analysis are essential for informing effective, survivor-centred policies and interventions to address sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

Through our dedicated research team, we conduct in-depth studies to assess the prevalence, trends, and root causes of SGBV within diverse communities across the country. Our research process involves close collaboration with survivors, community members, and key stakeholders to ensure that our findings accurately reflect the lived experiences and perspectives of those most affected by these issues.

Armed with these robust datasets and insights, Rainbo Initiative actively engages with policymakers, government officials, and other influential decision-makers to advocate for the adoption of evidence-driven policies and legislative reforms. We leverage our research to identify gaps in the existing legal and policy frameworks, highlight best practices, and propose targeted, context-specific solutions to strengthen the SGBV response ecosystem.

Beyond shaping national-level policies, Rainbo Initiative also leverages its research to drive change at the local level. We work closely with community leaders, traditional authorities, and civil society organisations to translate our findings into contextualized, community-led initiatives that address the unique SGBV challenges faced by different regions and populations.

By consistently disseminating our research findings through publications, workshops, and high-level advocacy events, Rainbo Initiative has established itself as a trusted, authoritative voice in the field of SGBV prevention and response. Our evidence-based approach has not only informed policy decisions but has also catalysed a shift in social norms fostered multi-stakeholder collaboration and amplified the voices of survivors.

Ultimately, Rainbo Initiative’s commitment to using research to influence policy and drive systemic change is a testament to our belief that sustainable, equitable progress can only be achieved through a deep understanding of the complex realities on the ground. As we continue to expand our impact, we remain steadfast in our mission to create a Sierra Leone where all individuals, regardless of gender, are safe, empowered, and free from violence.
