The fight against gender-based violence is everyone’s responsibility in every society.
However, much more needs to be done to prevent GBV, and interventions should start with positive parenting and early childhood development. We can, however, not only focus on the victims, we must also focus on perpetrators. To this end, we need to answer the question: What kind of society are we building in which boys grow up as men who act with such brutality against women? This means prioritizing the safety and well-being of children by protecting them against violence in their homes and communities and changing living environments in which aggression has become the norm. I believe this can only be achieved when the fight against GBV is everyone’s responsibility and I am enthusiastic to continue being part of this responsibility as a young woman. I hereby want to volunteer in this program at Port Loko.
Seeking to be part of you outreach interns on sexual and gender base violence. As a development driven individual and a community leader on issues ranging from non-violence, Gender Equality, human rights, flood mitigation, drug abuse and misuse and discrimination of all forms, being part of your outreach program will bluster my vision and enrich me with added value.
A graduate in Development and Economics with Division two upper honors from the university of Management and Technology (Unimtech)
